Breathing is a vital part of life. We often only pay attention to our breath when it no longer works for us. There are multiple techniques that can be accessed to facilitate breath retraining.
A recent study (2009) by Gibson and Vertigan demonstrated that Speech Pathology intervention can be an effective way to treat refractory Chronic Cough. The basis of the intervention involves Education, Voice Hygiene Training, Cough Suppression Techniques, as well as Psycho-Educative Counselling.
Sarah has assisted clients who presented with altered breathing patterns, such as post whooping cough, to improve their quality of life. She uses a combination of techniques to assist with breath retraining. She has a strong background in Meditation, as well as Mindfulness Techniques which she employs as an adjunct for treatment.
Education and Support relating to a loss of breath is also provided; such as Panic attacks, post-Epiglottitis,
Paradoxical Vocal Cord Movement, Asthma attacks, Allergic responses and anxiety disorders is also provided. She
has worked in conjunction with Psychologists, Respiratory Doctors and Ear, Nose and Throat Specialists to facilitate
easier ways of Breathing and Living.
